The installer brings a roll-forming machine and a coil of pre-painted metal. The flat strip is fed through rollers that shape it into the gutter profile, and the machine cuts it to the exact length of each roof edge. Gutters are then hung, sealed and fitted with outlets and downpipes.
Where Seamless Gutters Still Have Joints
Seamless means no joins along a straight run. A system still has connections at:
- Internal and external corners (mitres).
- Outlets where downpipes connect.
- Stop ends at the end of each run.
- Very long runs, where a joint or expansion allowance may be needed.
- Junctions with existing gutters or box gutters.
These joints are riveted and sealed. They are the first places to check if a seamless gutter leaks.
Materials

- Runs are formed to each edge's length, so very long lengths must be carried and lifted without kinking.
- The machine needs space near the house, and access for a vehicle or trailer.
- Small jobs may carry a minimum charge because the machine has to come to site.

No gutter is. Seamless runs remove joints along the length, but corners, outlets and stop ends are still joined and sealed. Those joints need checking over time.
Can PVC gutters be seamless?
No. PVC gutters are sold in fixed lengths and joined with fittings. Seamless gutters are roll-formed from metal coil, mostly aluminium or Chromadek.
How long can a seamless gutter be?
Each run is cut to the edge it serves. Very long runs are possible, but handling, thermal movement and outlet placement may mean the installer adds a joint or splits the fall.
Can I buy seamless gutters and install them myself?
Some suppliers sell formed gutters by the metre, but most quote supply and installation together because the machine forms the gutter on-site.
